The biggest holiday shopping event of the year is next month: Black Friday. That’s the day so many of us will try to cram an entire Christmas’ worth of gift buying into one day.

I personally avoid Black Friday sales at all costs. I’d rather pay a little more just to avoid dealing with crowds of severely annoying people. But I know for some, going shopping on Black Friday is a fun ritual (I have a loving nickname for those people: Batshit Crazy). Just kidding!

But seriously, I know it’s a great day to get gifts at low prices. That’s really important if you’re holiday shopping on a budget.

I don’t know about you, but I find it so difficult to shop for Father’s Day. When it comes to my mom the choices are endless, but when it comes to my dad I feel clueless. This might be because my dad is simple. Put sports on the tv and a burger in his hand and he couldn’t be happier.

If your dad is anything like mine, here’s a short list of things I’m considering this year that might help you out:

Dunkin Donuts / Starbucks giftcard:

My dad loves pouring over statistics while putting together his fantasy sports teams. To help power him through those all-nighters while he prepares for the new season, I might get him a giftcard to a coffee place. It’s a practical gift – he drinks coffee every morning and won’t say no to a pastry either.  If your dad is the same, this could be a great way to go – especially since giftcards come in all denominations so you can choose the amount that fits your budget. A couple of years ago for Father’s Day I got my dad the personalized giftcard that included a picture of the two of us on it. He still carries that card around today!
